94 Rawson Parade, Leura
The cottage is located on top of a hill and surrounded by natural bushland, offering stunning views of the valley. Inside, you’ll find a cozy atmosphere complete with a slow combustion wood fire, comfortable seating areas, and cozy bedrooms. Foxtel is included with over 40 channels, and the cottage has reverse cycle air conditioning, two oil heaters, and electric blankets on all beds. There are three bedrooms: one with a queen-sized bed, one with a double bed, and one with a bunk bed with a double on the bottom and a single on top. The Cook top is Induction so don't forget to put the pot on the element to make them work.
The property features its own observatory. For an additional charge a trained astronomer can give you a stargazing tour on the observatory telescopes. This is subject to availability.
The cottage has its own observatory and is available by appointment only and you must book a minimum of 2 weeks notice. If you book within 2 weeks of arrival and you wish to do some stargazing, please contact Blue Mountains Stargazing they do outdoor skygazing tours.

There are references to a star gazing tour, unfortunately the tour guide has retired and we are looking for someone to continue.
We enjoyed our stay at the Observatory cottage, it was clean and comfortable. We enjoyed the Observatory tour and due to the weather we were not able to view the stars but the virtual tour was great and they spent the time talking and answering questions. Louise.
Hey there Dr Hasen, hope you are well? Thank you for the picture! Also a massive thank you for the most awesome time at your observatory! My children had a fantastic and educational time and although Im not as intelligent as them and my husband Gwyn, I had the most wonderful time watching you all interacting and enjoying each others company and conversations.
I am so proud of my children, as Im sure you can imagine, and Im so pleased that I found this experience for them. They keep looking at the photos they took and Dylan wants a leather lace to put the usb stick around his neck as a necklace. It really has been a profound moment of our holiday!
Thank you again and thank you for your friendship. I can tell you, you have 4 new friends in your life now too! With love from Gwyn, Kate, Jac and Dylan.
My family and I have just spent an extraordinary weekend at the Blue Mountains Observatory in Leura celebrating my birthday and steeping ourselves (O K, it was mostly me) in the wonders of the celestial objects viewable in the Southern Hemisphere. The seeing was exceptional, the lectures and tutelage provided by Dr. Hasen Williams were kept at a level that allowed understanding by all members while still preserving the awe of having access to some of the finest astronomical instrumentation available to the general public for their hands-on use. We not only were able to do some visual observations, but we also set up and took some wonderful photographs using the very sophisticated state of the art CCD equipment. If you have even the slightest interest in astronomy and want to see what is right on your doorstep, I cannot provide a more enthusiastic recommendation for this experience. The accommodation is comfortable and more than adequate, and you stay on-site within a few steps of all the facilities.
Wonderful Experience! We loved the Blue Mountains Observatory Cottage. It a was peaceful bushland setting and a convenient base to explore the Blue Mountains. The highlight of our stay was the Star Gazing experience, we were blown away by all the stars, galaxies and nebulas! Thank you to Arthur and Ben who made it so enjoyable and informative. We now have a budding 7 year old astronomer! Robyn.
Here’s what Gavin wrote the observatory is a lovely quirky building in a beautiful location. It had everything you needed for a comfortable stay and our highlight were the kookaburras and cockatoos that were tame enough to visit us on the veranda. The house has a good open plan living space which is great for a family holiday.
Brilliant! We had a very relaxing getaway in this lovely cottage. Karen.
Thank you Geoff, we had a lovely time and the cottage was charming. regards, Debra
I was lucky enough to come across this gem whilst searching for an observatory in the Blue Mountains area. If I were to describe to someone not only the type of accommodation, I was looking for but also the experience tied to it, this would be it. The cottage itself is flawless, in an amazing location, beautiful inside and out, very well maintained. Bundled with the stay is an astronomy tour, do yourself a favour and experience it! It is an additional investment, but well worth it. An observing experience like no other with a professional astronomer, you will both acquire a wealth of knowledge and be marvelled by the beauty of the cosmos. Without a doubt, by far our most memorable stay from home. Regards, Jozsef
Hi Geoff, I would like to submit a review for your website/promotional material, on the Blue Mountains Observatory, please.
We took our four children for a country weekend break to the Blue Mountains Observatory. We expected to come away from the whole experience having relaxed, and we really did - the setting is beautiful, the property clean, spacious and had everything we could have asked for. What we didn't expect to come away with was an experience which opened our eyes to something absolutely amazing. The Astro tour with Hassan was Incredible. We saw and learnt so much, his enthusiasm was infectious, and we now have a permanent and revered appreciation of our stars, galaxies and planets as seen through the Blue Mountains Observatory telescopes. Thank you, thank you, Thank you very much. Felicity.
Here's what Nick wrote: Cosy cottage with an indoor wood heater, surrounded by bushland and friendly birds. Just a few mins drive from Leura. Would highly recommend.
