The Six Foot Track originally intended as a shortcut to Jenolan Caves, witnessed its inaugural passage from Katoomba to Jenolan by Governor Lord Carrington in September 1887. The construction of this bridle track was guided by the trails left by wild brumbies.
Embark on a delightful 1.5-kilometer stroll from the campground to Bowtells Suspension Bridge, promising a unique and unforgettable experience. Constructed and inaugurated in 1992 by the Royal Australian Engineers, the bridge pays tribute to Corporal Bob Bowtell, who lost his life while attempting to clear a tunnel during the Vietnam War.
Spanning the Cox’s River, the bridge serves as an alternate route for hikers on the Six Foot Track during periods of high river flow. Elevated 270 meters above the river, the crossing guarantees an adrenaline rush for those daring enough to traverse its height!
